AI Interview — setup and candidate guide
AI Interview is a conversational AI-conducted interview for hiring and skill assessment. The AI asks job-role-specific questions, the candidate responds verbally, and the system produces a transcript with per-competency scoring and behavioural flags.
For admins / recruiters — setting up an AI Interview
Step 1 — Create the interview
- Log in as admin.
- Go to Exam → Create Exam → pick AI Interview.
- Enter the job role title (e.g. "Junior Software Engineer", "Sales Manager").
- Paste or upload the job description. The AI uses this to generate role-specific questions.
Step 2 — Configure questions
- Choose question source:
- AI-generated — the system creates questions from the JD.
- Custom — type your own questions.
- Mixed — seed with custom questions and let the AI fill the rest.
- Pick interview length (number of questions, typically 8–15) and total duration.
- Optional: enable scenario-based questions (case study, role-play prompts).
- Optional: enable coding questions for technical interviews.
- Optional: enable hybrid mode — a human recruiter joins midway for follow-up.
Step 3 — Configure scoring
- Open Scoring Criteria and define competencies to evaluate: technical knowledge, communication clarity, problem-solving, domain depth, soft skills.
- Assign weights to each competency.
- Optional: define a minimum cut-off for shortlisting.
Step 4 — Send to candidates
- Add candidates from Candidates → Add or bulk-upload.
- Assign the interview. Each candidate receives a unique link by email.
- Candidates can take the interview anytime within the availability window.
Step 5 — Review results
- Open Reports → AI Interview Results.
- Each row shows the candidate, total score, competency-wise breakdown, and any behavioural flags.
- Click any candidate to open the full transcript, the recorded audio/video, and the AI's reasoning per response.
- Filter by minimum score to shortlist.
- Export to Excel for ATS / HRMS integration.

- Structure and coherence of responses.
- Behavioural cues from voice and (if video) facial expressions.
- Confidence and engagement signals.
Anti-cheating
AI proctoring runs throughout: face presence, multiple-face detection, object detection (phone, books), audio of other voices, screen monitoring. Flags appear in the recruiter's review.
Common candidate questions
Can I appear on my mobile phone?
Yes — mobile is supported, but a laptop or desktop is strongly recommended for a better webcam, microphone, and speech-to-text experience.
What if my webcam or microphone isn't working?
Use Test my webcam on the system-check page before the interview. The interview cannot proceed without working audio and video.
How long is the interview?
Typically 15–30 minutes depending on role. Your invitation email shows the expected duration.
