Can we conduct online exams in multiple languages?
Yes. Eklavvya supports multilingual exams in English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati and other Indian regional languages, plus Arabic, German, Spanish and French. The exam language is fixed by the institution at the time of exam creation — Eklavvya support cannot switch it on demand for an individual candidate.
For admins — how to configure a bilingual exam
- When creating the exam, enable Multilingual in exam settings.
- Choose the two (or more) languages — typically English + a regional language.
- For each question, upload the text in both languages.
- Choose how the candidate sees the toggle:
- Side-by-side — both languages shown together on the same screen.
- Switchable — a top-right "EN / HI" button lets the candidate flip languages mid-exam. Answered questions stay answered when switched.
- Save and publish.
For candidates — finding the language toggle
- The toggle appears at the top-right of the exam screen, usually as "EN / HI" or a dropdown.
- Click to switch. Your previously-answered questions stay saved.
- If you don't see a toggle, the exam was configured as single-language by your institution and cannot be switched mid-exam.
Common questions
My mock test was in English but I want the main exam in Hindi — will it be available?
Mock and main exam language settings can differ. Don't assume they match. Confirm with your institution's exam helpdesk before exam day so you can prepare.
I started the exam in English by mistake — can I switch midway?
If the language toggle is visible at the top-right, yes — your earlier answers are preserved. If no toggle is visible, you must continue in the configured language.
I cannot understand the configured language. What now?
Attempt as much as you can. After the exam, WhatsApp your exam name + roll number + the language issue to +91 90280 21965. Whether a re-attempt is granted is your institution's decision.
Can I use Google Translate during the exam?
No. Switching to a translation app triggers proctoring violations and may auto-terminate your exam. Check your allowed-tools list before opening anything outside the exam tab.
I see English questions but Hindi answer options. Is this a bug?
Usually not — that is how some bilingual exams are presented. If the mix looks broken (text cut off, garbled characters), send a screenshot via WhatsApp to +91 90280 21965.
