AI Admission Interview: setup and candidate guide
AI Admission Interview uses the AI Interview module for academic admissions, for example MBA, undergraduate or postgraduate selection. The AI interviews each applicant, rates them against the criteria you set, and produces a report the admissions committee can use to shortlist.
How it differs from a hiring interview
| AI Interview (hiring) | AI Admission Interview | |
|---|---|---|
| Use case | Job hiring and skill screening | Academic admissions and cohort selection |
| Input profile | Resume and job description | Application documents, for example CV, transcripts, statement of purpose |
| Question style | Technical and behavioural | Motivational, academic, scenario and domain questions |
| Scoring | Job skills with weightage | Admission criteria with weightage (motivation, fit, academic readiness, communication) |
Set it up
- Go to AI Interview → Interview Creation → New Interview.
- Enter the title and choose the Language and voice (Avatar and Accent). Questions are translated into the chosen language.
- Choose the Interview Category and fill in Candidate Group Description (who the applicants are: background, programme, experience). Use the context/prompt box to describe the programme.
- In Area, add the areas to cover and the number of questions, add any Compulsory Questions, and define the admission criteria under Skills & Description with weightages totalling 100%.
- Under Documents to upload, list the documents each applicant must provide (for example CV, SOP).
- Optionally switch on AI proctored and Profile screening with a resume matching percentage.
- Add the welcome note and instructions, then Submit.
- Assign applicants in AI Interview → Interview Assignment. Use Upload Folder to upload one PDF per applicant; file names must include the document name (for example John_CV.pdf) for automatic matching.
Email and WhatsApp reminders are configured per interview. See Notification Scheduler.
The report
- Per-criterion ratings and a summary on the first page.
- Strengths and improvement areas for each criterion.
- Full transcript.
- Candidate sentiment analysis (emotion and engagement from video) for AI-proctored interviews.
Reports can be exported in bulk from AI Interview → Interview Result.
Adding a faculty panel round
Enable an in-person interview in More Actions → Interview Configuration. Once the applicant submits the AI interview, the panel member clicks Join Now to continue live; criteria not covered by the AI appear in the report.
For applicants
The applicant flow is the same as AI Interview: log in, complete the system check, share the entire screen if asked, and answer by speaking. See the AI Interview guide.
Sample questions
Questions are generated for each programme and applicant. Examples:
- "Walk me through your background and what motivates this application."
- "What is the most challenging academic or professional decision you have made?"
- "Describe a time you led a team. What worked and what didn't?"
- "Where do you see yourself in five years, and how does this programme fit in?"
Anti-cheating
Identity checks at the start, face checks every 20 seconds during the interview, window-switch alerts, and screen sharing when the interview is recorded. For high-stakes admissions, see also 360° dual-camera proctoring.
