Aptitude Test on Eklavvya — what it covers and how scoring works
This is the product overview for Eklavvya's aptitude testing capability. If you want the step-by-step admin setup, see how to define and conduct an aptitude test.
The four pillars of aptitude
| Pillar | What it measures | Sample question types |
|---|---|---|
| Numerical ability | Arithmetic, data interpretation, percentages, ratios, basic algebra. | Number series, profit-loss, time-speed-distance, charts, tables. |
| Verbal reasoning | Reading comprehension, vocabulary, sentence correction, analogies. | Passage MCQs, synonyms / antonyms, parajumbles, error spotting. |
| Logical / abstract reasoning | Pattern recognition, syllogisms, coding-decoding, blood relations, seating arrangements. | Series completion, statement-conclusion, puzzles. |
| Spatial / mechanical | Visualization, paper folding, cubes, mechanical reasoning. | Mirror images, embedded figures, gear / pulley problems. |
Evaluation features
Auto-grading
All aptitude questions are auto-graded based on the marked correct answer. Results are available immediately after submission — no manual evaluation needed.
Negative marking
Optional. Configure per-question or globally:
- Standard: −0.25 marks per wrong answer.
- Custom: any positive or negative number per question.
- Unattempted questions are typically 0 (configurable).
Cut-off marks
- Overall cut-off — minimum total marks to pass.
- Per-section cut-off — minimum marks per pillar. Candidates must clear each pillar independently.
- Percentile-based cut-off — top N% across the cohort qualify regardless of absolute marks.
Time management
- Overall timer for the entire test.
- Section-wise timer — each pillar has its own time budget.
- Per-question timer — in sequential mode, each question has its own clock. See per-question timer setup.
Question pool randomization
- Each candidate receives a randomized order of questions.
- MCQ options can be shuffled per candidate.
- Question pools per topic allow random selection from a larger bank (e.g. 10 from a pool of 50).
On-screen calculator
For numerical aptitude, enable the on-screen calculator from Exam Settings → Allowed Tools. Candidates can drag it around the screen.
Practice and mock tests
- Mark any exam as Mock — marks don't count, candidates can attempt unlimited times.
- Pre-built mock banks for common aptitude tests — CAT, NMAT, MAT, MAH-CET, government exam patterns.
- Students see solutions and explanations after each mock attempt (configurable).
Reporting
- Individual report — total marks, rank, percentile, pillar-wise breakdown.
- Topic-wise report — performance per topic across pillars. See how to download.
- Comparative report — how a candidate compares to peers / cohort.
- Cohort report — aggregate performance for a batch / centre / institution.
Proctoring
Standard Eklavvya proctoring works during aptitude tests: AI face / object detection, screen monitoring, browser lockdown, audio anomaly detection. For high-stakes scenarios (entrance exams) layer with 360° dual-camera.
Use cases
| Use case | Typical configuration |
|---|---|
| Entrance exam (MBA / engineering / job aptitude) | All four pillars, negative marking, section cut-offs, AI proctoring. |
| Campus placement aptitude | Numerical + Verbal + Logical, no negative marking, overall cut-off only. |
| Internal training assessment | Single pillar based on training topic, no proctoring, retakes allowed. |
| Career counselling | All pillars + Career Path Assessment, report focused on strengths / fit. |
| Public open aptitude (free self-assessment) | One pillar, mock mode, immediate feedback with explanations. |
