For: institute admins

When to use this

Use Update All Student Password when you need to set new passwords for many candidates at once, for example before an exam cycle or after credentials were shared by mistake.

Steps

  1. Go to Candidates → Candidates Data.
  2. Open Actions and click Update All Student Password.
  3. In the dialog, click Download Template.
  4. Fill in the Excel file:
    ColumnRequiredNotes
RollNoYesCandidate roll number, exactly as in Eklavvya
    PasswordYesNew password
    BatchOptionalBatch name
  5. Choose the completed .xlsx file and confirm.
  6. Check the preview (Update All Student Passwords). It lists Sr.No, Roll No, Password and Batch, and the number of records. Rows without a roll number or password are skipped.
  7. Click Update Passwords. Passwords change immediately.

The update is recorded in Organisation → Admin User Logs with the number of records.

Error messages

MessageFix
Please select a valid Excel fileSave the file as .xlsx.
Excel file cannot be empty!Add at least one data row under the headers.
Excel must have RollNo and Password columns!Use the downloaded template; keep the column headers.
No valid data found in the Excel file!Every row is missing a roll number or password. Fill both.

Other password options

  • Password Same as Roll No: Candidates → Candidates Data → Actions → Password Same as Roll No sets passwords equal to roll numbers, batch by batch. See also Common password for candidate login.
  • Candidate self-service: where your institute has it enabled, Forgot Password on the candidate login page emails a reset link (not a generated password). The candidate needs a valid email address that is unique to them.
  • Clear Session: if a candidate is stuck as "already logged in", select them and use Actions → Clear Session.

Tips

  • Tell candidates their new passwords after the update; Eklavvya does not email them automatically from this screen. You can send an email from Communication → Send E-mail.
  • Keep the Excel file secure and delete it after use; it contains passwords in plain text.
