Coding Test — platform overview

Availability note: The Coding Test module is currently undergoing upgrades and may not be available for new accounts. If you're evaluating Eklavvya for coding assessments, please contact [email protected] or call +91 95525 86428 to confirm availability for your use case.

The Eklavvya Coding Test platform lets you evaluate candidates' programming skills inside the browser — with an integrated code editor, automated test-case runners, multiple language support, and proctoring throughout.

Supported languages

40+ languages including:

  • Compiled: C, C++, Java, C#, Go, Rust, Kotlin, Swift
  • Interpreted: Python (2 & 3), JavaScript / Node.js, PHP, Ruby, Perl, Lua
  • Functional: Haskell, Scala, F#, Clojure
  • Database: SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, SQLite, Oracle)
  • Web / scripting: TypeScript, HTML/CSS, Bash, PowerShell

Question types

TypeUse case
Algorithm / data-structureStandard interview-style problems with hidden test cases.
SQL queriesLive query evaluation against a sandbox database.
DebuggingCandidate is given broken code and must fix it.
Fill-in-the-blankPredefined code with specific lines blank for the candidate to complete.
Output predictionCandidate predicts what the code will output without running it.
System design / scenarioWhiteboarding-style; candidate writes design as descriptive answer with diagrams.

How candidates take the test

  1. Open the exam link from email.
  2. System check (camera, mic, internet, browser).
  3. Identity verification.
  4. The exam opens with the problem statement on the left and a code editor on the right.
  5. Candidate picks the programming language from the dropdown.
  6. They write code in the editor. Auto-save runs continuously.
  7. They can click Run to execute against sample test cases and see output.
  8. When confident, they click Submit. The code is evaluated against hidden test cases. Pass / fail per test case is shown immediately or at exam end (configurable).
  9. Candidate moves to the next question.
  10. After all questions, they click End Exam.

For admins — creating a coding test

  1. Go to Exam → Create Exam → Coding Test.
  2. Set the title, duration, total marks.
  3. Add coding questions:
    • Type the problem statement.
    • Specify the allowed languages.
    • Add visible test cases (shown to candidates).
    • Add hidden test cases (used for scoring).
    • Set marks per test case (full / partial credit).
    • Set time limit and memory limit per execution.
  4. Optional: enable plagiarism detection — compares submissions across candidates and against public code.
  5. Configure proctoring as needed.
  6. Save and publish.

Result reporting

  • Per-test-case results — which tests passed, which failed, execution time, memory usage.
  • Code playback — some configurations replay the candidate's keystrokes for review.
  • Plagiarism flags — per-question similarity scores against other submissions.
  • Comparative ranking — rank within the cohort by score and execution efficiency.

Proctoring during coding tests

Standard Eklavvya proctoring works during coding tests: AI face / object detection, screen monitoring (no tab switching), copy-paste blocking (configurable), secure browser. Auto-flag suspicious behaviour to the invigilator dashboard.

Common questions

Can candidates use their own IDE during the test?
No — the integrated editor is the only sanctioned environment. Switching to another IDE triggers proctoring violations.

Are intermediate code states saved if the browser crashes?
Yes — auto-save runs every few seconds. On reconnect, the candidate's last saved code state is restored.

Can I bulk-import coding questions from another platform?
Yes — the bulk-upload Excel template under Question Bank → Bulk Upload → Coding accepts problem statements, allowed languages, and test cases.
