How to assign an exam schedule to an individual candidate

Use this flow when you need to give one specific candidate a personalised exam slot — for example, a make-up exam, a special accommodations slot, or a one-off interview.

Steps

1. Log in as admin.
2. Go to Candidates → All Candidates.
3. Search for the candidate by name, registration ID, or email.
4. Click the candidate's row to open their profile.
5. Click Assign Exam.
6. Pick the exam from the dropdown.
7. Choose schedule type:
   • Fixed start time — specific start and end time for this candidate only.
   • Availability window — candidate can start any time in the configured range.
8. Set the start time, end time, and (for availability windows) the exam duration.
9. Optional — enable proctoring, override the default secure browser setting, or grant extra time (accessibility).
10. Optional — pick communication channels: email, SMS, WhatsApp.
11. Click Save & Notify. The candidate receives their exam link immediately.

How to give extra time (accessibility / accommodations)

1. In the candidate's Assign Exam dialog, click Advanced.
2. Tick Custom Duration.
3. Enter the extended duration in minutes (e.g. 150 instead of 120).
4. The custom duration applies only to this candidate; everyone else uses the default.

How to reset / re-issue an exam attempt

1. Open the candidate profile.
2. Go to the Exam History tab.
3. Find the attempt you want to reset and click Reset Attempt.
4. Confirm. The previous attempt is marked invalid and the candidate can re-attempt.
5. For audit, the original attempt remains in the database with a "reset" flag.

Common questions

The candidate says they didn't receive the email after I assigned the exam.
Check their Communication History tab in their profile — it shows whether the email/SMS/WhatsApp was sent and delivered. If sent but not received, see delivery troubleshooting.

Can I assign multiple different exams to the same candidate?
Yes — repeat the assign flow for each exam. The candidate's dashboard shows all assigned exams in the order they're scheduled.
