ID and face verification at exam start

For: candidates taking a proctored exam

Many proctored exams confirm your identity before the first question. Depending on your institute's settings you may be asked to capture your ID and/or a live photo of your face. This happens after the System Check.

How it works

After the System Check, the identity verification page opens.
If asked, hold your ID up to the webcam and capture it.
Capture a live photo of your face.
Your photo is checked automatically and/or reviewed by a remote proctor. Once approved, you move to face verification (if separate) or straight into the exam.

Identity verification must be completed within the authentication window set for your schedule (15 minutes by default). Log in on time — if you log in late, your authentication image may not be approved.

Face comparison with your profile photo

Some institutes compare your live photo with the profile picture stored in your candidate profile.

If no profile photo exists you will see Profile photo is not provided. Please contact your administrator. Contact your institute — they need to add your photo.
If you see Current Image does not match with Profile Photo., retake the photo following the tips below. If it keeps failing, contact your institute or proctor.

Photo tips that pass first time

Face the camera directly, eyes open, whole face inside the frame.
Light in front of you, not behind you (no bright window behind your head).
Remove caps, sunglasses and masks. Keep hair off your face.
Only you in the frame.
Your profile photo should be recent, clear and front-facing. Do not upload a photo of your ID card as your profile photo or selfie.
Hold your ID steady, close to the camera, with no glare on it.

If verification seems stuck

Situation	What to do
Automatic check keeps spinning	Wait. If the automatic check stalls, it is approved automatically after about 20 seconds.
Waiting for proctor approval	Stay on the page and keep your face in view. The proctor can see you are on the identity verification page and can approve you — or skip ID verification so you move on to face verification or the exam.
Photo rejected again and again	Improve lighting, remove anything covering your face, retake. Use the chat (if available) to tell the proctor.
Camera is black or not detected	Use the Webcam Troubleshooting link on the page, or follow the permission steps in System Check setup.
Authentication time ran out	Contact your institute — only they can extend or reschedule.
