How to do proctoring for online exams
For: institute admins and proctors
Eklavvya offers several proctoring options, and you can combine them on one exam: webcam photo capture, AI-based proctoring, live remote proctoring by a proctor, audio and screen capture, and 360-degree proctoring with a phone as a second camera.
Step 1: Turn on proctoring for the exam
- Go to Exam Management → Exam Creation and create or open the exam.
- On the Proctoring tab (or Advanced configuration → Proctoring), choose the options you need. Each option has a hint (i) icon:
- Capture candidate photo and Capture image time interval (seconds, minimum 15).
- Enable AI based proctoring: AI flags suspicious behaviour automatically.
- Enable remote proctoring: proctors watch candidates live.
- Allow audio recognition, Capture candidate audio during exam, Capture candidate screen during exam.
- Max number of alerts for switching exam window.
- Save the exam and schedule it in Exam Management → Exam Scheduler.
Step 2: Assign proctors (for live proctoring)
Create proctor users and assign them to the schedule under Proctor → Assign To Proctor. Full steps: define a proctor for live monitoring.
Step 3: Monitor the exam
Proctors sign in with their own credentials and use the Proctor Dashboard to watch candidate video, approve ID and face verification, chat, broadcast messages, pause or terminate. See Proctor dashboard guide (Proctoring 2.0).
Step 4: Review after the exam
Go to Result → Candidate Result and open the AI Report, Candidate Video, Candidate Audio or Candidate Screen for any candidate. See AI Report, video/audio review and marking malpractice. If your institute uses Offline AI, AI results appear about 30 minutes after the exam.
Devices
Proctored exams run on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Some setups, such as the Secure Exam App or screen-sharing exams, are laptop/desktop only. We recommend a laptop or desktop with Google Chrome. See supported devices and browsers.
Retention
Proctoring images, audio and video are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. See proctoring data retention.
