Top 4 Challenges to manage Online Exam Process

Common issues when running an online exam, and how Eklavvya handles them

Five problems that come up in large online exams, and the Eklavvya feature that handles each. Follow the links for setup and troubleshooting steps.

1. Identity verification: "is this really the candidate?"

Risk: someone other than the registered candidate takes the exam.

Eklavvya feature: ID and face verification at exam start, with the candidate photo compared to the profile picture. During the exam, AI checks for no face, multiple faces or a wrong face. See remote invigilation process and ID and face verification.

2. Cheating: "are they using another tab, phone, or notes?"

Risk: the candidate switches windows, uses a phone, reads notes or has someone else in the room.

Eklavvya feature: AI based proctoring, live remote proctoring, audio and screen capture, window-switch alerts, blocked copy/paste shortcuts, 360-degree proctoring with a phone camera, and the Windows Secure Exam App. Set it up on the exam's Proctoring tab. See proctoring setup and Offline AI.

3. Internet drops mid-exam

Risk: the candidate's network fails and they lose progress.

Eklavvya feature: answers are saved on the server as the candidate works. The candidate signs in again, clicks Resume (not Proceed), and continues from the last saved question. Admins can also use Candidates → Resume Exam and Add Time.

4. Multi-location scale: "how do I manage 10,000 candidates across 50 centres?"

Risk: physical exam centres don't scale, and coordinating evaluators is expensive.

Eklavvya feature: remote proctoring removes the need for physical centres. Onscreen Marking digitises evaluation after the exam. See university result processing.

5. Result publishing: "evaluation is taking weeks"

Risk: manual answer-sheet checking and compiling results delays publishing.

Eklavvya feature: auto-graded MCQ, aptitude and coding results are instant. Descriptive answers can be AI-evaluated with human override. OSM digitises evaluation of physical answer sheets and compiles results automatically. See OSM moderation and subjective exam flow.
